CIVIL ENGINEERING

Civil Engineering is the science that studies how to design, build, renovate not only buildings and infrastructure, but also includes the environment for the benefit of human life.

Civil engineering, a profession that has evolved for a long time, is thought to have developed in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia between 4000 and 2000 BC. King Djoser's pyramid, known to be found in the Saqqara complex, is recognized as the oldest pyramid in the world (over 4000 years old, or around 2600 BC), built by an engineer named Imhotep. The results of his cold hands can be seen to date.

Originally the Profession of Engineer was owned by the military to build defenses, fortifications, military outposts, roads, bridges and other war support buildings. After the war these engineers needed to rebuild a city that had been destroyed, arranging the city more regularly as needed. In the end, the profession was separated from the military. Civil Engineering. The science that surrounds civil engineering includes mathematics, chemistry, geology, environment to computers. All of them have important functions in civil engineering.

The term Civil Engineer itself was introduced by John Smeaton an English national who has worked extensively to build various structures such as "Eddystone Lighthouse" built in 1756.

Civil Engineering itself is divided into several branches namely Structure, Geotechnical, Construction Engineering Management, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, and Transportation.

The profession of a civil engineer includes the design / implementation of the construction / maintenance of road infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, buildings, airports, traffic (land, sea, air), canal network systems, drainage, irrigation, housing, buildings, minimization of earthquake losses, environmental protection, provision of clean water, financial concepts of projects, project management etc. All aspects of life are covered in the charge of civil engineering science.

Technological developments demand the civil engineering profession not only dealing with building projects, but is required to understand other fields such as informatics; Computing, which makes it possible to facilitate the smooth running of a project in Analysis and Design, and Architecture. Let's say for example building modeling with AutoCAD, Project Management with Primavera or MS Project, Analysis of structures due to earthquake loads, Wind Loads, Moving loads and others, so that it can be modeled with the help of a computer. This will reduce the factors that cause structural failure. As a result of the 1960s and 70s, the computing project was first used to design the Sydney Opera House.

It's hard to imagine how buildings – like Burj Dubai, Petronas, Taipei 101 – could understandably be built without computer analysis.
